Guided Night Tour to the Castle of Morella

Sunday 24, 22’30h. To inagurate the course, we will join our traditional night visit to the Medieval Castle of Morella. Guided by Carles Sangüesa, director of the Museums of Morella. The tour starts from the Convent of St. Francis.

Ensemble Class

Gothic Chamber / Theater. Every afternoon from 16 a 18h. For all students enrolled in the course who wish to participate in ensemble music for voices and instruments.

Medieval & Renaissance JamSessions

Each night at the Cruïlles Palace (Dada Museum Pub) from 23h. Open stage for soloists or ensembles who wish to play, sing, recite or dance early music. The soirées of the course..!

Course

Early Music Morella 2016, the V International Course On Medieval and Renaissance Music will take place between 23 and 28 July in Morella, Castellon. The adventure of mensuration, the theory and the composition techniques in the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries, minnesingers, minstrels and troubadours, the laude spirituali and the cantigas, the School of Notre Dame or Adam de la Halle and works of Montpellier, Llibre Vermell, Bamberg, Calixtino or Las Huelgas codex, instrumental works from Chansonier du Roi or dances and Italian stampedes, will form the repertoire to be studied in Early Music Morella 2016, with the epicenter of the figure of Raymundus Lullus, his musical journey through the medieval Mediterranean and the Ars Antiqua in the Crown of Aragon.

The combination of the historical music elements with the oral tradition is the essence of Early Music Morella, music to understand or to enjoy from its knowledge and reasoning. In the 5th edition, in addition to the festival concerts and interpretation classes, the audience can enjoy a multitude of parallel activities (guided tours, exhibitions, conferences, Dadá Med_Ren JamSessions, workshops…). It will be a pleasure to share it with all of you.
